Webster County Schools Announces Use of Alternate Snow Bus Routes
Superintendent Joseph Arbogast announced that Webster County Schools will begin utilizing the option for alternative snow bus routes on secondary roads during inclement weather in an effort to limit the use of instructional snow days and keep students safely in school and learning.
When weather conditions require the use of alternate routes, buses will travel designated snow routes rather than their regular routes on secondary roads. Families will be notified through the all-call notification system when the Superintendent, in consultation with the Transportation Director, determines that alternate snow routes will be in effect.
If parents or guardians are unable to safely transport their child to the designated alternate bus stop, the student will not be counted absent for that day.
To ensure families have access to this information:
Alternate snow routes will be posted on the Webster County Board of Education and individual school websites.
Paper copies of the alternate routes will be sent home with students on Tuesday, January 20.
“We understand that this is a new process and that it may take time for families to adjust,” said Superintendent Arbogast. “Our goal is to balance safety with maximizing instructional time for our students.”
Families with questions or concerns about how the alternate snow routes may affect them are encouraged to contact the Webster County Schools Central Office for assistance at 304-847-5638 ext. 2203.
“We appreciate the cooperation and flexibility of our families as we work together to keep our students safe, in school, and engaged in learning,” Arbogast added.
