Position Title: Family Engagement & Support Specialist
Reports To: Dr. Allison Pyle & Chelsie Dillon
Location: Webster County Schools
FLSA Status: Contracted
Salary: $14,000/year


Position Summary:

Webster County Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to serve as a Family Engagement & Support Specialist. This contracted position focuses on strengthening school-to-home connections by educating families on mental health topics, supporting positive behavior and attendance outcomes, and collaborating with school teams to develop individualized family support plans.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly educational meetings with families to increase awareness and understanding of mental health, wellness, and community resources.

  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community agencies to develop and implement school-to-home support plans tailored to meet individual student and family needs.

  • Actively participate in the district’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) teams to address student attendance, behavior, and social-emotional needs.

  • Serve as a liaison between families, schools, and outside service providers to promote access to resources and remove barriers to student success.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of meetings, plans, and progress in accordance with county and state guidelines.

  • Respect and uphold student and family confidentiality at all times.

  • Attend relevant professional development and training as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the district’s student support initiatives.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral science, counseling or psychology.

  • Knowledge of mental health concepts, family systems, and school-community partnerships.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, staff, and community members.

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain detailed records.

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn about MTSS frameworks and evidence-based interventions.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in an educational or community setting.

  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices, cultural competency, and local mental health resources.

  • Knowledge of school attendance laws and positive behavioral supports.


Work Schedule:

  • Contracted, approximately 3-4 hours/week

  • Some flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of students and families.
